Zohran Mamdani Pledges a 'Dawn' for The Big Apple in First Speech
During an first day in his new role, Zohran Mamdani committed to “transform” America's largest city, declaring “a fresh chapter” and an audacious commencement to his administration.
A Groundbreaking Mayor
The 34-year-old political star, who just a year ago remained a virtually unknown state assemblyman, now stands as the city's first Muslim mayor. He also made history by being the inaugural to be sworn in using the Qur'an.
“A time such as this seldom arrives and rarer still is it that the citizens whose hands are upon the controls for transformation,” Mamdani remarked.

An Ambitious Platform
Mamdani now faces one of the most demanding jobs in American politics, with a plan featuring:
